SALMON ARM CLUB BASKETBALL

I will be offering club basketball opportunities for boys from grades 4 - 11 in Salmon Arm this Sping and next Fall (maybe Winter - we will see how long the teachers job action exists). In the past I ran the Spring Basketball Program through the School at a cost of $5 to $20. The funds raised helped to purchase uniforms and equipment for our School Basketball Program - insurance and gym use was covered by the school. I will no longer be running the Spring Basketball Program I offer through the schools. Players and parents must understand that the program I am offering is not be affiliated with the schools in Salmon Arm; therefore, there will be a fee to join the club ($100 to $150 - final cost still to be determined). Each player will have to pay for the following: gym rentals, player insurance (includes membership to Basketball BC), uniform (reversible and shorts), b-ball, equipment costs, administrative fees, and coaches expenses. All players in grades 8 - 11, who play spring/fall basketball and attend tournaments or play in organized games, must belong to Basketball BC and be insured. School colours cannot be worn during games and school equipment cannot be used. Failure to comply with these rules will result in suspensions and fines. Players in the younger grades must belong to registered club programs to compete in tournaments. Please stay tune for more information. I will be finalizing cost and details before the end of March. The Programs that I would like to offer are Grades 5 - 7 (4's invited), Grades 7 - 9, and 9 - 11. Grades 4 - 7 will run on Monday and/or Wednesday 6:00 pm to 7:00 or 7:70 pm. STAY TUNE - MORE INFO TO FOLLOW.

Kelowna / Penticton Road Trip

Bus departs Sullivan Campus at 2:30 on Friday. Those who haven't payed owe 25$. Our first game is in West Kelowna at Mt. B. (6:45). Immediately following our game, we will drive to Penticton. We are staying at the Sandman Hotel. It has a Denny's on site (late dinner boys). Bring some food to munch on and enough money for two dinners, one breakfast, and lunch. Make sure you have both uniforms and all of b-ball wear. The Girls play at 12:00 on Saturday and the Golds play at 1:45. We are expected back in SA at around 6:00 PM Saturday night.

"It doesn't matter if you can take a hit. What matters is what you are able to do... how you respond to being repeatedly hit and knocked down." - Lets make this a fun and worth while weekend boys. Focus and prepare yourselves to compete! I'm FIRED UP!

#1 KSS VISITS GOLDS ON WEDNESDAY

I am hoping that many of you will be able to attend the game at SASS on Wednesday, January 18th. The #1 KSS Owls are in town for their second meeting against the Golds. In our first match-up, the Golds fell to the Owls 104 to 29 - I am expecting a better performance by the young Golds both offensively and defensively in our second meeting. As a TEAM the Golds have been improving and our Basketball IQ is slowly increasing. Although our offensive output has been poor against great teams like KSS and South Kamloops, we have been able to compete against some good AAA teams. The reallity is that basketball is what it is right now in Salmon Arm - we have great athletes who play soccer, hockey, football, etc..., however we do not have a group of committed players that make basketball a priority. And until that changes, we will not be able to compete with great teams. Wednesday would be a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for our young basketball players in town to see an excellent team - the size and hieght is impressive, and their skill is outstanding. Girl's game is at 5:00 and the Boy's game begins at 6:45.
